Known for: Aside from being one of the most beautiful countries in the world, New Zealand is famous for its indigenous people, Maori who are descendants of Polynesian explorers who settled the Pacific Ocean more than 1000 years ago. The first person to conquer Mount Everest, Sir Edmund Hilary came from New Zealand. Peter Jackson, who made the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit and King King (all of which were filmed in NZ). Another is Richard Pearce who made the first powered flight on March 31, 1903 before the Wright Brothers.The All Blacks and The Haka. Lorde, the singer.  NZ is famous also for its anti-nuclear policy and being the first country in the world to give women the power to vote. OH! I almost forgot…Sheep! We have a lot of Sheep.
